Hi! After a much-needed long time off (perhaps too long, but alas, time does fly…) I’m back in my workroom chalking up some ideas. This one, is a long time favorite of mine. The little guy above doesn’t look like much yet, but add him to his future friends (not pictured yet) and we are looking at a tiny environment made in the big world of UDK, or Unity. It’s about time I brushed up on my 3D art skills and I’m looking forward to this little storybook world where mushrooms are little houses glowing in the dark night. Some quite literally…
Did you know there are mushrooms that glow? I certainly didn’t– I originally thought this was a photoshop facade– or so it would seem. They are called jack-o-lantern mushrooms, or more scientifically known as Omphalotus olearius. Their gilled underbellies glow in the dark of night due to bioluminescence, the same gene found in fireflies. Check out this video if you would like to know more about the bioluminescence gene and all of its wonders. It’s one of my favorite youtube videos.
Mushrooms come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. But in the realm of creativity… we can make them however we want. Wait till you see what I have in store over the next couple of days! :3
